History

­The success story of Lechmotoren­ began when Ernst Klein established a factory for AC motors in 1947 in Schongau. Shortly afterwards the current location in Altenstadt was decided upon.

­In 1970 the company was bought by Heinz Schabmüller and was called henceforward LECHMOTOREN Schabmüller GmbH & Co. The Berliner Elektro Holding AG, under the direction of Manfred Bernau, took over in 1989 and the name was changed to the current one.

­Since 2004 Lechmotoren GmbH has been a subsidiary ­of the ESW GmbH, a company of the Jenoptik Group.
