Polymer-based Camera Modules

Camera modules with digital image sensors have experienced an extraordinary development in the last couple of years. Higher resolutions are projected onto smaller surfaces. These new image sensors are found in mobile phones, camcorders and digital cameras. They are also used in the fields of automotive and medical technology.

Advantages of polymer-based optics (in contrast to glass optics) show in the design of optical systems which can be realized with substantially less components, meaning cost and weight reductions at almost equal performance.
