Using a digital microscope camera ProgRes® C10plus (C3) in Histology / Anatomy at the University Leipzig (Institut for Anatomy) / University of Gondhar Ethiopia (Department of Anatomy)

The main aim of the application

generating of microscopic photos in good color quality as well as good resolution for histological education and scientific publications

The requirements to the microscope camera

• editing of captured images via Adobe Photoshop
• easy handling and user-friendliness

The workstation & environment

Adapter:
• video adapter 60 C ½“ 0,5x mounted at
   the microscope

The advantages

Creating microscope-photos for the histological education and teaching as well as for scientific publications is simple to handle and possible in an user friendly way. A reliable colour quality and high resolutions are granted.

The description of the application

Acquisition and storage of the microscopic photos by using the microscope software in the conjunctival impression cytology (CIC) to detect subclinical vitamin A deficiency in pregnant women.
The goblet cells (red coloured) in the conjunctiva was displayed with the PAS (periodic acid - reagent)-colouration. The colouration of the nucleus of the epithelial cells (blue coloured) has been done with hematoxilin in order to distinguish them from the goblet cells.
