Who are Jenoptik’s internship positions for?
Internships are intended for students of specialized colleges of higher education and universities.
What subjects does Jenoptik primarily look for?
We especially look for students of engineering, natural sciences, economics and law. Depending on the specific requirements of the internship position, students on other courses may also be suitable.
Does Jenoptik also offer high-school internships?
We do not advertise high-school internships in our job vacancies. If you would like to complete a high-school internship with us, contact us directly—preferably by e-mail to karriere@jenoptik.com.
Where are internships advertised?
You can search for current internship positions by clicking the job vacancies link. Then choose the target group “Student” or “Intern” in the selection box and click on “Search”. This will display all vacant internship positions. When you have found a suitable internship and would now like to apply for it, simply click on the “Apply Online” link at the foot of the vacancy description. This leads you directly to the online application form.
Can I also submit a speculative application for an internship?
You are welcome to submit a speculative application for an internship. The speculative application link displays the relevant speculative application form, which can be accessed by clicking on “Speculative Application – Students”. All speculative applications submitted enter our group-wide applicant pool. If an internship position arises, we can search the applicant pool for suitable candidates. In this process, we compare the position’s requirements with the profiles in the applicant pool. If your profile matches the vacancy, we will invite you by e-mail to apply for the internship. Clicking the link in the e-mail takes you directly to the relevant online application form.
What requirements must be met for an internship at Jenoptik?
To obtain an internship at Jenoptik, you must be matriculated as a student at a specialized college of higher education or a university. We especially look for students of engineering, natural sciences, economics and law. Depending on the specific requirements of the internship position, students on other courses may also be suitable.
We also lay great store by good to excellent grades and knowledge of foreign languages, especially English. You should also have some initial practical experience working in a company or other institution (e.g. a scientific institute). However, good grades are not the deciding factor alone. You should be able to get involved in a dynamic team in which you inspire yourself and others and advance projects together. Further important requirements for an internship at Jenoptik are flexibility, the ability to cope under pressure and work independently, and organizational and communication skills.
How long do internships typically last?
An internship at Jenoptik lasts three to six months. In this time, you gain a comprehensive overview of our company and are integrated in specific projects which you accompany and work on independently. With the help of a range of tasks, you get to know your subject area and gain a foretaste of the challenges in real-world work.
How can I apply for a degree thesis?
You can search for available topics by clicking on job vacancies. Then choose the target group “Student” or “Final-Year Student” in the selection box and click on “Search”. This will display all available topics. When you have found a suitable topic and would now like to apply for it, simply click on the “Apply Online” link at the foot of the vacancy description. This leads you directly to the online application form.

You are welcome to submit a speculative application for a degree thesis. The speculative application link displays the relevant speculative application form, which can be accessed by clicking on “Speculative Application – Students”. Within your cover letter, which you upload in the final section of the online application form together with your supporting application materials, provide a detailed description of which topics you want to address in your degree thesis and why Jenoptik is a good practice partner for you. Is a previous internship an essential condition for a degree thesis?
No. However, an internship gives you the chance to get to know our company and organizational structure and establish some initial contacts. Furthermore, a suitable topic for your degree thesis can arise in the course of an internship.
