Road section speed enforcement using TraffiSection

In a pilot project, the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA) is testing the effectiveness and feasibility of section speed enforcement for the Swiss Confederation. A total of three JENOPTIK Traffic Solutions TraffiSection systems are being used for point-to-point measurement on Swiss national roads.

The goal is to reduce the number of serious accidents caused by excessive speeds – in particular on dangerous stretches such as long tunnels and accident blackspots.

TraffiSection, currently in operation in Switzerland, offers a very flexible and modular average speed measurement system; one which can be adapted to individual client requirements worldwide and easily integrated into the existing infrastructure of a modern traffic management system. The first of its kind in the world, this section speed enforcement system can distinguish between 11 classes of vehicle and the different applicable speed limits.
