A new generation of diode lasers for high-power laser systems has been awarded the Transfer Prize “WissensWerte” at the end of March 2012. These diode lasers were developed by the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut (FBH) in cooperation Jenoptik in Berlin. Based on new designs of the diode lasers, the new diode lasers are characterized by less energy loss than usual and no reduction of the beam quality either. The diode lasers each with one single emitter achieve an efficiency of 63 percent at an output power of 12 Watt.
Thanks to the intensive cooperation between the FBH and Jenoptik, these new diode lasers can already be used in industrial applications, for example in the laser materials processing. A successful transfer from research into industry – that is Sharing Excellence, too. And it is exactly what has been rewarded with the Transfer Prize 2012.
Please find more information on the cooperation in the press release.
