Speed measurement in the Aubinger and Richard Strauss tunnel
The Aubinger Tunnel at A99 near Munich is almost 2 kilometres long.
This Project includes one measurement cross-section in each direction with connections to the variable messaging signs at that location, including additional cameras for simultaneous rear photography so that drivers of speeding motorcycles can also be recorded for evidentiary purposes. Two weeks after go-live 2,500 speed violations were recorded. The record was a vehicle traveling 158 km/h when 80 km/h where allowed.
Richard-Strauss-Tunnel stretches over 1,5 km and is part of the extension of the middle ring road of Munich. Since July 2009 it was opened for public traffic. Traffic law enforcement is implemented for 8 speed measurement units.
