Auxiliary Power Units
Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) of the Defense & Civil Systems division have high power density and are operated in military as well as in civil markets. They are reliable even under difficult environmental conditions.
In the last years the mission requirements for military applications have changed from active combat to monitoring and safety mission scenarios. This results in increasing performance requirements for auxiliary power units.
APUs in the power range of 5-17 kW with 28V DC provide power supply for various military vehicles continuously and constantly even when the on-board power supply of the vehicle stops – without using the main engine. The APUs can be integrated into existing vehicle spaces such as the battery compartment.

APUs for Military and Commercial Vehicles
In commercial markets these APUs ensure uninterrupted power supply for trolley busses, which are powered by overhead wires. In case those are failing, the bus can continue to drive.
For this purpose we provide auxiliary power units in the power range of 100 to 200kW. They consist of a powerful Diesel engine and a permanently excited generator. The motor management controls the engine and communicates via CAN bus interface with the electrical system of the bus.
