Following this tradition the business unit for composite materials provides a concept for transparent armor, consisting of pure high-transparency plastic. It protects against ballistic threats as well as those from mine fragments and IEDs, which leads to higher survivability of the soldiers.

Glass armor is generally diffcult to shape. The usual glass transparent armor assembly for front windows in vehicles consists of two flat plates and a bar in the middle of the windshield. In contrast to glass armor, the composite transparent armor windshield is bendable. Therefore the central bar in the windshields of a truck becomes redundant resulting in a wider feld of vision for the driver of the vehicle. Another striking advantage of this transparent armor is that it sustains a high degree of visibility even after being hit.
