The special feature of the ADSF282 17kW Auxiliary Power Unit developed in the Defense & Civil Systems division is its extremely powerful output density, remarkably minimal weight and compact design.

These properties open up a new market niche for potential applications of the unit in military and civil vehicles. Jenoptik is currently the only company to have developed such a powerful auxiliary power unit for use in military vehicles.

Whilst comparable auxiliary power units have previously been able to normally generate an output of up to eight kilowatts within the assigned space, the new APU generates 17 kilowatts. By being the same height the new product development is also particularly suitable for upgrading existing military vehicles.
