29th New Year’s reception of JENOPTIK AG

In addition to numerous employees of the Jenoptik Group, the guests at the 29th New Year’s reception in the Jena Volkshaus included members of the Supervisory Board and the Group Works Council as well as customers and partners from business, science and culture. On behalf of the state of Thuringia as the main shareholder, Jenoptik Executive Board members Stefan Traeger and Hans-Dieter Schumacher welcomed the Prime Minister of Thuringia Bodo Ramelow and the Minister for Economic Affairs Wolfgang Tiefensee. Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche was present on behalf of the city of Jena.

Stefan Traeger opened the evening together with presenter Aline Thielmann and then reported on the development and strategy of the Jenoptik Group. In the past two years, he said, employees have made the Jenoptik Group more agile in many areas, streamlined it and focused more strongly on photonic core competencies, supported by a new brand identity launched in early 2019 with the motto “More Light”. The Jenoptik CEO again explained to the guests the management’s reasons for stopping the sales process for the mechatronic business of VINCORION. One of his personal highlights of the past fiscal year was the Jena Science Night, which Jenoptik enriched with a facade illumination on the Ernst Abbe high-rise in Jena.

Optical highlights were also provided by Christoph Rummel in the artistic program: the show artist set the Jenoptik motto in an impressive and illuminating way with his light juggling and light painting.

Fund-raising campaign for crossing guards of Deutsche Verkehrswacht

As in previous years, Jenoptik used the New Year’s reception as an opportunity to ask guests for a donation to a charitable cause. This year the donations will benefit the Deutsche Verkehrswacht, a German road traffic association, because we share their goal of ensuring safety and security in road traffic with our products in the Light & Safety division. More precisely, the donation will be used to support a project for the safety of schoolchildren: the crossing guards, who have been volunteering to make the way to school safer since 1953. The Deutsche Verkehrswacht – itself a voluntary association – is grateful for financial support for their work.

At Jenoptik’s New Year’s reception, the President of the Deutsche Verkehrswacht, Prof. Kurt Bodewig, was delighted to receive the evening's donation of around 8,200 euros. Many thanks to all donors!
