Jenoptik acquires ITS business from FIMA
Jenoptik Smart Mobility Solutions has expanded its presence in the Baltic region by acquiring the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) business of its long-term local partner FIMA. The effective date of the transaction was Monday, March 2, 2026. Both parties agreed to not disclose any further details.
With the ITS business based in Vilnius, Lithuania, FIMA and Jenoptik accomplished many successful traffic enforcement and tolling projects together in the region. In addition to Lithuania, the acquired ITS business is also active in Latvia and Estonia.
The successful cooperation between Jenoptik and FIMA’s ITS business stretches over more than fifteen years and includes significant milestones like large spot speed and red-light enforcement programs as well as the introduction of the first average speed installations in the Baltic region. One of the latest projects was the implementation of a nation-wide e-tolling system based on ANPR technology (automatic number plate recognition) in Lithuania.
The acquired Lithuanian ITS-company will with its Latvian subsidiary mainly act as a regional sales, service and project management hub, leveraging proven competencies in system integration and execution.
