Jenoptik to showcase advanced innovative solutions at the world’s largest photonics trade fair
The globally operating photonics group is presenting solutions for optics, sensor technology, and metrology at the SPIE Photonics West trade fair. In addition, the new SPIE Jay Kumler Innovation Award, commemorating Jenoptik’s long-standing President in the USA, will be presented for the first time at the trade fair.
At SPIE Photonics West, the world’s largest trade fair for photonics, the Jenoptik Group will be presenting a wide range of its optical and photonic solutions from January 20 to 22, 2026. Under the motto “Advancing innovative solutions with the power of light”, Jenoptik, together with its subsidiaries SwissOptic and TRIOPTICS, will present developments and innovations that enable greater efficiency and performance in semiconductor equipment, laser technologies, life sciences and medical technology, industrial manufacturing and infrastructure, and advanced information and communication technologies, including augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR).
The products on display include, for example, an OEM solution for lighting and imaging. For manufacturers of endoscopic surgery devices, Jenoptik has coordinated the two essential elements of lighting and imaging and combined them in the holistic development approach MS-I2 (Multispectral Illumination and Imaging). This will be presented in a live demonstration at the trade fair.
Also on display will be high-performance optical and micro-optical components for greater precision, reliability, and performance, which can be used to solve challenges in laser material processing, semiconductor equipment, and optical data communication. These include tiny microlenses and microlens arrays, F-theta lenses and beam expanders, pulse compression gratings, and the UFO Probe® Card for testing photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
In the field of optical metrology, Jenoptik’s subsidiary TRIOPTICS will be introducing its new SurfInspect measurement system for automated scratch and dig quality assessment. It enables objective and economical inspection of optical surfaces in accordance with ISO 10110-7.
You can find Jenoptik, TRIOPTICS and SwissOptic at the SPIE Photonics West booth #1149 and our AR/VR/MR solutions at the TRIOPTICS booth #6617 at the SPIE AR|VR|MR Expo.
In addition, experts from the Jenoptik Group will present latest product and technology trends:

Support for photonics entrepreneurs at the SPIE Startup Challenge and the SPIE Jay Kumler Innovation Award
Jenoptik is the founding partner of the SPIE Startup Challenge, a pitch competition for photonics entrepreneurs who present their light-based business ideas to industry experts. The competition is organized by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, and is one of the most important competitions for innovations in the fields of medical technology, healthcare, and deep tech based on photonics.
This year’s final presentations will take place on January 20, 2026, as part of the trade fair. Jenoptik has supported this event since its inception with expertise on the jury and cash prizes for the three best finalists.
For the first time, the SPIE Jay Kumler Innovation Award will be presented as part of the Startup Challenge, honoring the long-time President of Jenoptik North America and SPIE Fellow James Joseph (Jay) Kumler, who passed away in February 2025. Jay Kumler was an entrepreneur who played a key role in shaping the development of the SPIE Startup Challenge and was committed to the advancement of the optics and photonics industry for decades. The SPIE Jay Kumler Innovation Award is intended to recognize outstanding innovative achievements in photonics and will be presented following the final presentations of the SPIE Startup Challenge on January 20, 2026.
