High accuracy and beam stability for 3D printing applications with F-Theta lenses from Jenoptik

At Jenoptik, we develop and manufacture high-performance optics and micro-optics for demanding industrial applications. With decades of experience in laser material processing, we now offer application-specific F-Theta solutions — including our latest innovation for 3D printing.

Why F-Theta lenses are essential in 3D printing

Kein Alt Text hinterlegt.

F-Theta scan lenses are critical for directing laser beams with pinpoint accuracy across the build surface. This enables precise layer-by-layer solidification of photopolymers or powder-based materials, forming intricate, high-quality 3D objects. With Jenoptik’s experience and expertise in optical design and manufacturing, laser system manufacturers and intergator benefit from repeatable precision, optical robustness, and faster production cycles.

Our new F-Theta lens JENarTM APTAlineTM 639-1030…1080-580-AL is made for 3D-printing applications, especially for Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), that requires a high degree of precision and accuracy.

A plastic or metal powder is applied layer by layer and the powder particles are melted with a laser at the desired points to form a solid structure. The F-theta lens plays a key role here, as it focuses the laser beam onto the printing surface over the entire working area with limited diffraction.

As all the F-Theta lenses from Jenoptik, the JENarTM-APTAlineTM-639-1030...1080-580-AL is durable and reliable even in high-power or ultra-short pulse lasers applications thanks to its quartz glass optics, high-quality coating and minimized back reflections.
